AkzoNobel Science Award
First presented in 1970—when it was known as the Akzo Prize—the AkzoNobel Science Award is awarded annually to a person or team (exceptionally) in recognition of groundbreaking interdisciplinary research.
It was initially only awarded in the Netherlands, but since 1999 the prize has alternated between Sweden and the Netherlands.
The judging is in the hands of an independent panel of judges—in the Netherlands under the expert leadership of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities, and in Sweden the Royal Institute for Engineering Sciences (IVA).
The AkzoNobel Science Award is accompanied by a prize of EUR 50,000 (SK 500,000).
The objective of the Award is to encourage scientific research in the widest sense.
